Happy new year! Happy semester! My wish to all of us.
What we are going to do is quite simple yet informative, so please note down important messages on your notebook or whatever device you are comfortable with. Each week before class, I'll also post reminders here so that you won't have "any excuse" for missing any information, haha!
First, this blog is one important platform for demonstrating your reading and writing achievements. You'll have the freedom to choose any book that suits your interest and language level (I'll help you find suitable books). But you'll need to have a Gmail account for us to invite you as authors on this blog.
Second, I'll introduce my class, telling the several "big missions" you'll be assigned for this semester. I guess you have heard some from your friends, such as the very inhumane workload and highly tight work schedule! They are right! Each year, there are always students who find this schedule manageable, and some others don't. So, prepare! But you'll find it's actually not that bad, for our team will give as much support as possible, meaning it's not easy for the instructor and your TAs, either.
Third, we'll visit my reading lab, showing you more than a thousand books you can check out for your reading, mainly novels and some autobiographies suggested by previous readers. The rules include 1) 500$ fully refundable deposit, 2) checking out during the opening hours, and 3) returning on time.
I'll follow a 16+2 week curriculum, and I'll submit your grades on the last week (the 18th week) after all the works are successfully collected from you.
So, see you tomorrow morning at 9:10! Chill, and be on time!
