Iris- Self Introduction

Hello everyone! I am Iris.

About Hobbies

Very cliché, I love watching movies and listening to music and podcasts. In my spare time, I will go to see the concert of performers I like. Unlike listening to music on our own devices, the vibe of live performing is totally different. Joining concerts or even music festivals is also a way to relax since everyone is allowed to express themselves there. Everyone can sing out loud, scream out loud, or dance crazily as long as you don't bother others.

As for movies, I don't choose a specific genre to watch, although I do love drama films a little bit more. I am obsessed with the movie industry and have always admired the film crew. I also love to read movie reviews and analyze the storyboard. By the way, during the winter vacation, I watched many movies as well, and my favorite one is 'Summer of Soul,' I have to say, this film blew my mind. It is a documentary movie and talks about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, and it is nominated for Best Documentary Feature of Oscars. I highly recommend it!

About Reading

Since elementary school, I have been fond of reading. I still cannot forget the joy that reading brought me; I laughed about the plot, cried about the characters' miserable lives, and always felt satisfied after finishing a book. Reading is a window for me to escape from the pressure of school and introduce me to a brand new world. However, to be honest, I have never finished an English novel. With the strict schedule of this course, I hope I can conquer the fear of reading English novels and improve my reading ability!

  1. I do hope that the schedule will not ruin your already built reading passion, especially when you get the point that "reading is a window for you to escape from pressure." Please understand that we do what we have to do for a course, but it shouldn't clash your interest. Time management is the skill so much needed for a busy college student life. I am also curious why you are in love with the documentary, "Summer of Soul"! Can you tell in class? We can play the trailer.

  2. I can still feel the intense thrill and goosebumps that I experienced in live concerts, and I absolutely envy you for having the chance to see your favorite band in real-life. Unlike you, my idols are far away from me, living overseas. And thanks to COVID, we have not meet each other for two years. Seeing you go to concerts and cry for their works touched me since I knew that feeling so well, and I sincerely happy for your happiness. :)

    1. I can totally understand the feelings of being unable to see your favorite band or idol. It sucks:( And I really hope the whole COVID thing can get over as soon as possible, then you can feel the thrill again!
